Australian Government Archives
From 1901 National Archives hold Commonwealth Government documents, while state or territory government archives hold state or colonial government documents.
Exceptions: Immigration before 1923 was a function of state governments, as was naturalisation until 1903. Some military records before 1901 are now held in National Archives.
